Leah Davis was raised in  Wisconsin, along the wooded shores of Lake Michigan. She earned a BFA in Illustration with a minor in writing from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 2000. Following graduation, Leah enlisted in the US Army, where she gained first hand knowledge of subject matter previously unfamiliar to her. Today, she continues to work as a freelance illustrator,  creating batiks with wax and dyes on cotton muslin. Batik-making is a very "loose" process, so she finishes her pieces with colored pencil to improve clarity. Her use of texture and vibrant colors make her work an excellent choice for a wide range of projects and purposes. Her works are often noted for their unique style, elegance, and technique. Leah's illustrations have appeared in various shows, publications and department stores. Some of her inspirations include: nature, love, irony, the unbelievable, children's art, crazy creatures, and charming places. She also derives endless inspiration from her husband Brian and two children, which she resides with in the Southwest, near the " Islands in the Sky."
